DC Caregiver Support: DACL Programs and Grandfamilies Workshops
DACL's Caregiver Programs
The Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) provides programs for unpaid caregivers of seniors and adults with disabilities. Its published caregiver programs include respite, support groups, educational programs, and case management. For information about those services, contact DACL at (202) 724-5626.
Support for Grandfamilies
The District's Grandfamilies Support Group is part of the Department of Human Services' Gen2Gen DC program. DHS describes it as a series of workshops for caregivers, children, and youth, focused on connecting grandfamilies with resources and services. The current fact sheet linked from the Gen2Gen page says participants must be DC-resident grandparents, great-grandparents, great-aunts, or great-uncles who are primary caregivers; there is no fee. See DHS Gen2Gen DC for current information.
